About Sunday Night Tea
Each Sunday at 5.30-6.30pm in the hall of Pilgrim Uniting Church (Flinders Street, Adelaide) a simple evening meal is prepared and served for homeless and isolated people. Volunteers arrive for preparation by 5.45pm. Usually volunteers clean up and leave by 7.00pm.
The Opportunity
For the last four years, Carol and Peter, members of Pilgrim have jointly co-ordinated SNT. They have indicated that they will step down from this co-ordination role at the end of the current roster on 27 July 2025. So, the opportunity exists for ideally, a couple of people to take on this role. Carol and Peter estimate they spend the equivalent of two days each week on SNT co-ordination.
About You
Want to make a difference while part of a valued team? The SNT coordination role is possibly ideal for retirees looking to contribute to a fairer society, or for those seeking to build their resume.
The Co-ordinator/s does not have to be a member of Pilgrim but should share a commitment to the ethos of SNT and social justice, understand the significance of a meal and personal connection for people facing hardship and be willing to bring good people and organisational skills and commitment to the task. There is already in place strong documentation and efficient processes along with teams of dedicated volunteers. A current driver’s license and access to a vehicle would be necessary.
