22. TOUR of the STAINED GLASS WINDOWS - 2
Second window group on the west wall.
Previous Next
From left to right:
1. Greatheart's fight, from John Bunyan's 'Pilgrim's Progress'
2. The Sower
3. Christian loses his load, from Pilgrim's Progress
The center window of the three recalls the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13: 3ff) and reminds us of Jesus using stories to teach his followers and engage his listeners.
The two outer windows are part of a group of six windows from an unknown church demolished in the north of England. They were purchased in 1987. Known as the Pilgrim's Progress series they depict scenes from the book, Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan, which is a classic of English literature. The windows could not be installed as a group as the sequence is broken up by three previously installed windows from the demolished Pirie Street Methodist Church.
