Easter 3 – 'Break The Silence Sunday' – During the current pandemic we are being told to stay at home; to leave our homes for only a limited number of reasons; and to avoid normal social interactions. It's the law, and it's meant to save us all from being infected by a horrible disease. But what if home is not a safe place? Being forced to live with a violent, controlling partner or an abusive parent, and not being allowed to use the phone or call for support, results in enormous fear and uncertainty. If you're nearby and hear the cries of victims, call the police! The risen Christ walked alongside two of his despondent disciples to reassure them, again, that they were beloved children of God. The risen Christ walks with us, too, to assure us that we are all beloved children of God. The Uniting Church is part of a wide collection of people who hold that all people are created in the image of God, and are created to express their gifts. Let's break the silence about family and domestic violence; listen to and hear the cries of victims; and treat the victims with mutual care and respect.
