Rev Sandy Boyce
Pentecost 18 – Anti-poverty Week – The reading from the Hebrew scriptures is a message to the exiled people in Babylon, urging them to get over their grief at being out of their comfort zones, and to reach out and be a blessing to their neighbours. Life was far from what they would have preferred, but God would comfort and assure them that God was with them. This recording includes the sound tracks from three video clips dealing with the levels of hardship and poverty that the Australian government inflicts on job seekers, as a result of the quite inadequate Newstart allowance and the rules under which it can be granted and withheld.
